Archus is proud to announce our reappointment as the lead supplier to NHS England for the delivery of the next phase of the NHS Estates Technical Standards and Guidance Programme, reaffirming our position as leading experts in the production of national and international healthcare technical standards and guidance documents.

The National NHS England Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) technical standards and guidance (TSG) programme comprises a framework of Health Building Notes (HBNs) – which provide design guidance and advice on asset management and construction, and Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) – which provide technical engineering advice on design and maintenance of buildings and systems. The programme supports NHS organisations, and their design teams, in operating and maintaining a safe, secure, suitable and sustainable estate in which patient care is delivered to the highest standard.

We have successfully supported the programme since 2019, where we have since overseen the development and publishing of the ground-breaking NHS Net Zero Carbon building standard, alongside several other HBNs, HTMs and strategically important guidance documents. Our reappointment for a further four years, following a competitive tendering process, will see us continue to provide a broad range of specialist skills and support to the core team at NHS England as part of the delivery of 13 priority documents, and the scoping phase of a further 13 documents.

As lead supplier, we will be supported by a range of carefully selected organisations and professionals who will undertake roles as subject-matter experts, ensuring the programme benefits from the most experienced, capable, and qualified array of expertise in the industry. Our partners for this programme include HKS, Corstorphine & Wright, Square Gain, Hydrock, Hoare Lea, Part B, Mott Macdonald, Atos, MTS, Akerlof, WT Partnership, Waterwise and The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction.

Commenting on the appointment, Chris Turner, Director and Head of Technical Advisory said, "We are thrilled to have been entrusted with the role of lead supplier for the next phase of the NHS Estates Technical Standards and Guidance Programme. At Archus, we are committed to driving positive change in the healthcare sector and we are very much looking forward to working alongside NHS teams, and an exceptional range of partners, to bring further innovation to the already successful programme.”

Shane Dineen, Managing Director at Archus added, “The NHS Technical Guidance publications are a seminal part of setting the standards for high quality care environments and considered best practice not only in the UK, but in healthcare systems around the world. We are immensely proud to continue to work alongside and support the team at NHS England on this important programme of work.”
