Project Management for the new Forest of Dean Community Hospital
Dedicated project management support throughout the project lifecycle.

							The Challenge
With a vision to improve clinical services and achieve a step-change in the sustainability of their estate, Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust approved the option to build a new community hospital in the Forest of Dean to replace two existing, ageing hospital sites; The Dilke Memorial Hospital and Lydney and District Hospital.
Once complete, the new facility would offer significantly improved facilities including a 24-bed ward comprising single rooms with ensuite facilities, a Minor Injuries and Illness Unit, X-ray, radiology and ultrasound services, consulting and treatment rooms for outpatient clinics, a children’s clinic area, endoscopy suite and clinic space for dentistry and podiatry.

										Impact
Following a 22-month construction period, the project was successfully completed to scope, programme and budget in spring 2024.
Sustainability lies at the heart of the project, which has been designed and constructed to BREEAM Excellent standard. Key aspects include improved energy efficiency which will make it a net contributor of electricity to the national grid, new native tree planting and ecologically friendly lighting.
Following the successful transition of clinical services to the new facility, it was officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal 7th June 2024, marking a significant milestone in the modernisation of healthcare estates and delivery for local communities.
