Sabbaticals at Archus: because life happens everywhere

At Archus, we understand that life doesn’t pause for work, and we don’t expect our people to either. We spoke to Kim Crump, our Head of People, about why sabbaticals matter.

Sometimes, the most meaningful thing a workplace can say is: “take the time.”

At Archus, we believe in supporting our people not just in their careers, but in their lives. That belief is deeply ingrained in our culture, our policies, and our everyday conversations.

One of the ways it comes to life is through sabbaticals: extended time away from work to rest, explore, reflect, or simply recharge. We don’t offer sabbaticals because it’s trendy. We offer them because we trust our people. Because we know that when someone takes time out, they return with fresh energy, new ideas, and a deeper connection to their purpose.

We’re proud to have approved four sabbaticals in the last few years, each one a reflection of our commitment to trust, flexibility, and personal growth.

"After three years at Archus, I took a 3-month sabbatical followed by a 3-month career break. Being able to step away from work knowing that I had a job to come back to meant I could enjoy my time off without worrying about what came next. Archus handled the whole process with flexibility and made my return to work smooth and straightforward."

Why sabbaticals matter

Sabbaticals are part of a bigger picture.

They sit alongside our mentoring programme, our flexible working options, and our commitment to equity and inclusion. They reflect our belief that people do their best work when they feel seen, supported, and trusted.

As Head of People, I see sabbaticals as a signal. A signal that we’re serious about wellbeing. That we’re building a culture of care and that we’re creating space for life to happen.
