Graduate Consultant Nabyendu Dey tells us why he looks forward to Mondays at Archus
Nabyendu Dey is part of the most recent Archus Graduate Programme cohort, joining in September 2022. Here, he tells us more about his learning and development so far and why he looks forward to Mondays!
What have you been working on since you started?
I spent my first few months working in our Strategic Advisory pillar and have recently completed my first rotation, so I am now working in our Technical Advisory pillar. Since joining, I have been involved in various projects from structuring business cases to data modelling and visualisation. Currently, I am working on a research based clinical strategy for a health board in Wales. I have been also using my data analytics knowledge to create intriguing visuals for my colleagues as part of their work in supporting clients.
How have you been supported since joining the team?
I’d not been involved in the healthcare sector before joining Archus, so I have been working really hard to develop my understanding of the work we do. The support from the team has been wonderful. We are always encouraged to speak up and ask questions or share our thoughts. My senior colleagues and line manager are very approachable and have really helped me during my initial induction. To make sure I haven’t been overwhelmed with the amount of information, my work has been broken into small and manageable tasks which collectively build up to create an impact on the projects I am supporting.
What opportunities have you been given to learn and develop?
As I have been involved in a range of projects, I feel I’ve had a lot of opportunity to develop different skills – from creating effective presentation, visualisation, summarising information – all of this has really helped me improve my communication skills. I have been involved with learning more about Power BI (a data analytics software) and I’ve also been enrolled in the Archus Healthcare Planning Diploma as well; a 12 month learning journey of various modules all relating to planning and delivering excellence in healthcare planning and design.
What are you enjoying most about being part of the Archus Graduate Programme?
The best part of this programme is that it gives you two years to learn and develop skills in both healthcare and infrastructure. It’s a vast area, but the way the work is structured, with hands on learning in supporting senior colleagues, means you get to learn about it in a manageable way, while developing lots of different skills and supporting real client projects.
How would you describe life at Archus?
Day to day life at Archus is very exciting, especially when you are surrounded by such amazing colleagues. The environment is perfect for graduates to grow and develop very valuable skills for our future professional career. Every day is different and the way we work is also very flexible; with a balanced mix of office and home working, which is refreshing. I always look forward to Mondays, because it means the start of another week where I know I’ll be challenged to learn and grow more.
What is coming up for you next at Archus?
After I’ve finished my rotation in Technical Advisory, I’ll be moving to work in our Programme and Project Management pillar. I’m looking forward to learning more about project structure and how it is developed through out it’s different stages. I am also going to be supporting our growing offer in health care data modelling and analytics; I’ve already had some introductory discussions and it sounds really exciting.
