From classroom to consultancy, a journey powered by mentorship
At Archus, we believe that great careers start with opportunity and guidance. This article shares Julia Kulczyski’s inspiring journey from university to consultancy, shaped by mentorship and hands-on experience.
Julia’s journey with Archus began long before her first day on the job. It started in a classroom at the University of Toronto, where she met Christine Chadwick, Managing Director of Archus Canada, who also teaches at the university's Faculty of Medicine, Translational Research Program (TRP). Christine is listed as an instructor for the course LMP 2350H: Professionalism, and also serves as a Mentor in Residence at the Faculty of Medicine & Innovation. Her passion for healthcare transformation and infrastructure design left a lasting impression on Julia.
That early connection sparked Julia's interest in the strategic side of healthcare, and ultimately led her to Archus. Since joining the team, Julia has embraced a dynamic and exploratory career path. Through a structured rotation across Archus' core service lines, she gained hands-on experience in:
Strategic advisory: framing complex healthcare challenges and guiding clients through transformative decisions. Functional and Clinical Programming and Demand/Capacity modelling.
Business case development: the creation of customised business cases to support healthcare infrastructure projects.
Programme and project management: coordination of internal and external stakeholders.
Technical advisory: exploring the digital and clinical dimensions of hospital design.
Archus gave me the space to explore, learn, and grow, with the support of a team that genuinely invests in your development. Christine’s mentorship, from university to the workplace, helped me navigate each step with confidence. I didn’t have to choose one path; I got to walk through several and figure out where I could make the biggest impact.
Julia Kulczyski, Consultant
This rotational model is part of Archus' commitment to developing early-career professionals through real-world experience, mentorship, and cross-disciplinary learning. Julia's story reflects that ethos.
Mentorship has been a constant thread. Christine Chadwick, who first taught Julia at university, continued to support her development at Archus, offering guidance, encouragement, and opportunities to stretch.
Julia’s curiosity and drive stood out from the moment we met at the University of Toronto. Supporting her transition from student to consultant has been a privilege, reflecting the kind of talent we’re proud to nurture at Archus. As we expand our team in Canada, it’s exciting to see emerging professionals like Julia shaping the future of healthcare infrastructure.

Now, as a Consultant, Julia is a Junior Project Manager, handling different workstreams, developing interpersonal and stakeholder relations, contributing to strategic thinking, and helping clients navigate the complexities of healthcare transformation. Alongside her client work, she is also focused on training new team members and supporting TRP students as they begin their own journeys into healthcare—sharing the guidance and mentorship that shaped her own path. Her journey is a testament to what's possible when talent meets opportunity, and when organisations invest in people from day one.
At Archus, we're proud to support career journeys like Julia's. Because when we nurture potential, we build a stronger, brighter future for healthcare.
