Archus is supporting Welsh organisations to help shape future Welsh health and care systems

Wales wins

Archus is proud to have secured a number of recent commissions to provide healthcare infrastructure and strategic planning advice in Wales across primary, acute and tertiary care services.

Archus has secured a place on the Specialist Consultancy Framework for the University Hospital Wales Project, to provide Strategy Development and Programme Management and Project Management Office Support. Working for our client Cardiff & Value UHB, Archus will provide support to help fulfil the Health Board's projects to underpin the Shaping Our Future Wellbeing (SOFW) 10 year Strategy. This will include a wide range of long and short term projects.

Alongside this, the team are also delivering a review of Primary Care Wales which will assess the current primary care estates provision and develop plans for the optimal estate models for community and primary care based service delivery in the future. This is a strategic priority for Welsh Government, focused on significantly improving the experience of Welsh communities and local populations, bringing care closer to home.

The Archus team are providing activity and capacity planning to support a collaborative approach as strategic advisor to Cardiff & Vale UHB. This commission is assisting with the development of the Programme Business Case for the University Hospital Wales project, a programme for transformation of services for a £1.3bn new hospital. Archus are delighted to be part of the team which is led by Grant Thornton.

Archus are also supporting Cardiff’s Velindre Cancer Centre to develop the economic analysis for the business cases within their Transforming Cancer Services programme, working with stakeholders to estimate whole life costs, quantify direct and societal benefits, and prepare rigorous options appraisals.

Archus’ growth in Wales follows on from securing a place on the NHS Wales Shared Services Framework in April 2020.

Commenting on Archus’ appointment, Stuart Douglas, Head of Estates Development at NHS Wales said:

“We’re delighted that Archus have secured a place on the framework. We have exciting plans for future development of the estate here, and having an experienced team of professionals available to support Welsh Government and NHS organisations will be a great asset.”

The team also played a key role in delivering the conversion of the Principality Stadium to the Calon y Ddraig Dragons’ Heart surge hospital, part of Cardiff & Value UHB’s response to the first wave of Covid-19. This collaborative project was recently shortlisted in the HSJ Partnership Awards.
