Countries world-wide are grappling with the complexity of healthcare provision which has been compounded further by the challenges presented by the pandemic. I enjoy working with customers to deliver solutions that bring positive outcomes to a population’s health, looking at how services can be delivered, facilitated and funded in order to make the biggest impact.

At Archus my role involves...

As Managing Director, I have an exciting and varied role across the company in leading the delivery of our future strategy and ensuring we are creating a long-term sustainable business. I also lead on many complex estate and service transformation programmes, including national estate planning, whole system integration plans, major redevelopments, land transfers, mergers, and acquisitions.

I was drawn to healthcare by...

The idea of working to make a tangible difference to our communities always massively appealed to me. The healthcare estate is one of the most varied and complex landscapes in the world. I enjoy the opportunity to use all areas of our skill and expertise to manage land and property and create long term value for our customers and partners. Anyone involved in a healthcare system will know we are mere caretakers of it for the time we are involved, we have a responsibility to do the best for it for future generations to come.

Memorable career moment?

As one of the founders of Archus, completing our fifth year in business and achieving our 5-year plan was a memorable milestone. As Archus has grown, so has our ability to support our partners in health systems to be innovative and creative in pursuit of a fit-for-purpose healthcare provision for future generations. There have been some great memories where we have faced challenges and overcome them. I’m particularly proud of our Covid-19 response and the team spirit everyone showed. Every time we close older buildings and replace them with modern fit-for service facilities or complete a major refurbishment – I get great enjoyment from being involved in delivering these positive outcomes. It feels like we are really helping to shape our local communities and regions.

Why Archus?

When we created Archus, we wanted to build something that was different, with an ethos and philosophy focused on our people and clients, where people would feel proud to work for or with us. I am incredibly proud of what has been achieved to date and continue to be excited by our plans for the future.

Most significant trend for healthcare in the future?

Healthcare will always have up-hill challenges but the dedicated people working in this sector will always tackle these to the best of their ability. Key stakeholders must find the time to be innovative and creative in creating a fit-for-purpose healthcare system for the future. Digital adoption, real time data, changes to methods of construction, integrated care and net zero carbon will be some of the key themes we are likely to see in the next decade.
